Tapada de Coelheiros in Arraiolos is proud to present its two new harvests to the market: Coelheiros White and Coelheiros Rosé.
The new wines are both from the 2022 harvest and have an even more special characteristic – they are the first in their portfolio to be certified as organic agriculture, highlighting Tapada de Coelheiros’ dedication to producing sustainable and high-quality wines.
The 2022 harvest was characterized by dry and hot weather, with only 429mm of precipitation. The high temperatures affected the vineyards, and early September rains somewhat interfered with maturation and harvest management. However, the result was rosé wines with good aromatic definition, fresh and balanced, and white wines with aromatic exuberance and palate.
Coelheiros White 2022, produced from Arinto and Antão Vaz grapes, underwent a 4-month stage in stainless steel tanks and foudres, in contact with fine lees, resulting in a unique complexity and elegance. On the other hand, Coelheiros Rosé 2022, exclusively from the Syrah grape, spent about 3 months in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, enhancing red fruit notes and preserving acidity.
Tapada de Coelheiros already holds the Sustainable Production certification by PSVA (Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program) and has an integrated vision of sustainably producing its wines, with organic and regenerative agricultural practices. Recently, it obtained organic agriculture certification for its 50 hectares of vineyards.
“Although we began implementing organic agriculture about 7 years ago, each passing year makes the impact of this approach on grape quality more evident. We are eager to present our first wines with organic agriculture certification. It’s a significant milestone for this team and decisive for the future of Tapada de Coelheiros,” says Luís Patrão, the project’s winemaker.
The first wines following this approach are Coelheiros White 2022 and Coelheiros Rosé 2022 and are already available on the market – in the online store and at usual points of sale.
