The new Tapada de Coelheiros Red 2021 arrives on the market with 92 points from Robert Parker, awarded by the prestigious publication The Wine Advocate. This Alentejo wine is perfect to enjoy and share during the colder, shorter days of the year. Complex and elegant, full of density and structure, it reflects the care and attention devoted to its terroir and the production of high-quality wines.
The year 2021 brought abundant rainfall, ensuring good water availability throughout the vine’s growth cycle. The mild and dry spring and summer reduced disease pressure and allowed for an extended growing season, favoring phenolic ripening. This contributed to the production of red wines with intense aromas, ripe fruit notes, and subtle hints of spices.
Tapada de Coelheiros Red 2021, a reflection of this vintage, is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet grapes. It shows an intense ruby color with garnet reflections. On the nose, it is complex and elegant, revealing notes of blackberry and cassis, spices, cedar, and a subtle touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with fine tannins and balanced acidity that enhance freshness. The black fruit remains prominent, complemented by hints of dark chocolate and spices, culminating in a long finish marked by notes of coffee and toasted oak.
This wine is made from pre-selected grapes from the estate, cultivated according to practices that reflect Tapada de Coelheiros’ commitment to sustainable production. João Raposeira, Agricultural and Sustainability Director, states:
